About Armstrong Steel

A family reinforcing-steel lineage dating to 1986 — now building in southeastern Pennsylvania.

▸ What we do

Reinforcing steel, and only that

Armstrong Steel installs reinforcing steel for custom pools and spas, retaining walls and grade beams, footings, caissons and pile caps, and structural retrofits and dowels. Every cage, mat and bond beam is placed to the project's approved structural plans: the bar size, the spacing, the cover and the laps come from the engineer's details rather than from what happens to be on the truck. Because steel is the whole job here and not one line item inside a concrete package, the layout, the tie work and the inspection-ready handoff get the attention they need.

▸ Who we work for

Builders, contractors, and owners who care what is in the shell

Most of the work comes from pool builders and gunite crews who want the shell right before it is shot, general contractors who need a foundation mat tied on schedule, and homeowners rebuilding a wall or adding a spa. Design professionals get a contractor who reads their details and asks about the ones that conflict instead of guessing at them. If a scope sits outside what we install well, or the access will not take a truck and a crew, we say so before the job is scheduled.

▸ Who builds it

Owner-led, and on the steel

The business is owner-led: Dustin Armstrong, President & Head Rodbuster, is on the steel. The trade itself is a family reinforcing-steel lineage dating to 1986, from Kenneth Whetstone to Stephen Armstrong and his sons, and it now works out of Chester County, Pennsylvania, travelling across the surrounding states. The business is classified as NAICS 238120 — Structural Steel and Precast Concrete Contractors — and works to CSI 03 20 00 — Concrete Reinforcing / 03 21 00 — Reinforcing Steel.
